Rajini Kanths Robot

What Superstar says about ROBOT!!

Many claim that this actor was supposed to act in Robot and that actor was about to act in Robot etc.etc. Actually it was only Superstar who was supposed to act in ROBOT originally. (There are no takers for others. Even this time the project came into reality just because Superstar agreed to act in it. For other actors there were no buyers.
It's official: Rajni signs Robot
Leading Tamil director Shankar has signed onRajnikanth , fresh from the stupendous success of his latest starrer Sivaji, for his next project titled Robot.
That of course should come as no surprise to Rediff readers on the possibilities a few days before the news became official.
Shankar has been toying with the casting of this film for years now. Initially, he considered Kamal Haasan , but the Tamil superstar blotted his copybook with the box office fiasco Alavandaan (Abhay, in Hindi) and, simultaneously, had creative differences with a director who is very firm about what he wants.
Shankar moved on to other projects; in the background, however, he was engaged in negotations with Shah Rukh Khan .
Khan had for long expressed a desire to work with Shankar, and at one point promised bulk dates. However, on this particular project, Khan reportedly did not quite see eye to eye with the director, who put the project back on the shelf.
Aamir Khan was next in line, but negotiations broke down at the preliminary stage itself though neither the star nor the director have revealed what the sticking point was.
Finally, Shankar has his male lead -- and the casting of Rajnikanth removes a lot of headaches. Firstly, any film starring the South's reigning superstar gets sold as soon as it is announced, and for whopping sums at that, so the director with a penchant for enormous budgets will have all the money he wants to play with.
Further, Shankar -- fresh from his successful collaboration with Rajni on Sivaji -- plans to make the film simultaneously in Tamil, Hindi, Telugu and possibly Malayalam, thus opening up more areas of the country to exploit. Early word is that while Shankar hasn't finished costing his film yet, it could prove to be among the top two or three most expensive films ever made in India.
By way of bonus, Shankar has roped in A R Rahman to score the music, teaming up with a composer who was a major factor in ensuring that Shankar's early films were superhits.
He is currently busy finalising the rest of the cast, and the technical crew. Of the movie itself, little is known; Shankar has a reputation for being close-mouthed about his subjects.
However, inside buzz on a project that has been in the planning stage for years now is that the storyline will feature a man who also, in the film, has a robotic avtaar; hi-tech special effects is believed to be a vital component of the film, and insiders say Shankar has for some time now been in discussions with various top professionals, both in India and abroad, and is on the verge of finalising the outfit that will provide the tech component.

ROBOT Tsunami is striking media!!!
Sify which reported that the project may be rumour as usual - later came up with an article confirming Robot. It is also said in many newspapers the official announcement will be made in Sivaji 175 days function. Almost all papers have comeout with ROBOT news in their editions for the past two days and today too. ROBOT all set to occupy the headlines in coming days. No..no...it has already started occupying. I will upload the newspaper scannings later. But what i wanted to share is Maalai Murasu on 4/1/2008 came up with a FULL FRONT PAGE coverage on ROBOT stating that Superstar all set to act in one billion project. The paper as usual vanished from stands within first two hours of arrival. (This will uploaded once the project is confirmed officially)Meanwhile again yesterday 5/1/2008 evening - Maalai Murasu carried a news stating that - "Engum Robot patriyae paechchu" No official announcement. No press release. No inputs directly from Shankar. No byte from Superstar. All we got was a few line hints and bytes from producers to a FEW SELECTIVE media sources. But isn't this enough to trigger a Tsunami? Yes the ROBOT Tsunami is striking media thereby brushing aside all other movie news.

Aishwarya Rai and Deepika Padukone

After a dream Hindi film debut with Bollywood Badshah Shah Rukh Khan in Om Shanti Om, Deepika Padukone may soon star opposite Tamil superstar Rajnikanth in Shankar's Robot.
According to sources, Deepika is being offered a huge sum to star in this Rs 100 crore venture. On the other hand, some people in Bollywood are advicing her against taking up the role because of the age difference between the 22-year-old actress and the 57-year-old megastar.
Another actress being strongly considered for the role is Aishwarya Rai . Ash had been considered for Shankar-Rajni's earlier venture, Sivaji: The Boss as well, but the deal fell through.
While speculation over the casting continues, who would you rather see Rajni romance: Deepika or Ash?

Rajinikanth replaces Shah Rukh Khan in India's costliest movieCHENNAI: Digging for gold appears to have become superstar Rajinikanth’s favourite pastime. As if the Rs 80-crore blockbuster Sivaji, The Boss was not enough, filmdom’s money spinning hero has now signed up for India’s costliest movie. Pegged at Rs 100 crore, director Shankar’s Robot, a science fiction film, will see Rajni replace King of Bollywood Shah Rukh Khan as hero. London-based Ayngaran International, in which Kishore Lulla-owned Eros International picked up a controlling stake last July, is to produce the film. Robot will be released in five languages for a global audience. This dream project of Shankar was also to be produced by SRK’s Red Chillies Entertainment. In fact, last year, the film had been planned featuring filmdom’s other cash king Shah Rukh Khan. However, owing to differences between Shankar and SRK on the creative front, as acknowledged by the latter in recent statements, the film was dropped about two months ago. Observers say, given Shankar’s penchant for large canvas presentations the cost of production of Robot could even cross the Rs 100-crore mark, setting a new Indian record. “Ayngaran and Eros Multimedia will be jointly producing Robot featuring Rajinikanth and directed by Shankar. The formal agreements will be signed soon,” Ayngaran International CEO Rohan Manickavasagar told ET on Friday from London.

Eros and Ayngaran had together distributed Sivaji globally, which is said to have grossed between Rs 150 crore to Rs 170 crore from both the domestic and overseas markets. "Robot will be a joint production. The film will take anywhere between 18 to 24 months for completion and will be produced at a cost in excess of Rs 100 crore," Mr Manickavasagar said. The film will be made in Tamil, but will be released in five languages, including Hindi and Telugu, besides a couple of other regional languages. “It will also have stars from Bollywood. But these finer details will be finalised in due course,” he added. Shankar had originally wanted to do Robot with Kamal Hassan over five years ago for Media Dreams, the now defunct film arm of Chennai-based Pentamedia Graphics. Somewhere down the line, even Hritik Roshan’s name came up for serious consideration. But Rajini appears to have swung it yet again. With Rajinikanth becoming a national phenomenon after Sivaji, which also generated interests in international markets, Robot is expected to be marketed in a big way overseas too. Tamil films have a huge market in the UK, USA, Canada, France, Germany, Norway, Switzerland, Malaysia, Singapore, Sri Lanka, South Africa, Australia and the Middle-East.

Ayngaran International and Eros Multimedia have officially announced that superstar Rajnikanth, ace director Shankar, and music wizard A. R. Rahman are teaming up once again for their new film 'Robot'.

'Robot' is all set to become grand and entertaining film ever made in Indian cinema. The movie will be simultaneously produced in Tamil, Hindi, Telugu and other languages. 'Robot' will have the state-of-the-art technology.
Eros International is an established global player in the fast-growing Indian media and entertainment arena. It has built a successful business model around the release of 30 new films every year and has film library containing more than 1,300 titles, making it one of the largest content owners in the business. Eros has the possession of the distribution rights for films including ‘Devdas’, ‘Om Shanti Om’, ‘Munna Bhai MBBS’, and ‘Partner’. Eros is now producing and co-producing around 70 films in Hindi with leading artists such as Shah Rukh Khan and Hrithik Roshan.
Ayngaran has been the pioneers in Tamil Film Distribution in theatrical and home video formats in the International Market. The History of Ayngaran business dates back to 1987 when it had the vision to acquire the International Rights across formats of many Tamil films that became blockbusters.
The Ayngaran library has over 1500 films including ‘Sivaji’, "Padayappa’, ‘Chandramukhi’, ‘Mudhalvan’, ‘Indian’, ‘Jeans’, ‘Boys’, ‘Pokkiri’, ‘Gilli’, ‘Sivakasi’, ‘Kaathalukku Mariyadhai’, ‘Alaipayuthey’, ‘Kandukondain Kandukondain’, ‘Kannathil Muthamittal’ and ‘Billa 2007’ amongst others.
As far as 'Robot' is concerned, it is like a roller coaster ride for the movie, as Shankar has been contemplating with many names for his dream project. First it was said that Kamal Haasan would act in it. Then Vikram’s name surfaced. Post ‘Sivaji’, we heard that Hrithik Roshan would be the dream hero. Then came the name of Aamir Khan. Finally Shankar made an official announcement that it would be Shahrukh Khan, who would don the role in his most intimate project.
However, it came as a setback to the director when Bollywood superstar Shahrukh Khan had pulled out from the project. Some leading Tamil magazines speculated that Ajith would be roped in. but finally superstar has agreed to act in the movie and that puts an end to all speculations about the project.
Since the project would cost hundred crore rupees, it goes without saying that it needs a star like Rajini, who has incredible market value, to redeem the money and ensure profit for the investors.
Keep watching this space for more updates on 'Robot'.

Who will be Rajini's heroine in Robot?

After Superstar Rajini officially signed for Robot, media has started the next thread, who will be the heroine or heroines of Rajini in Robot? Now the race for becoming Superstar Rajini's heroine in his next two projects has been gearing up in Tamil film industry। Every actress is getting ready to take part in this race to become the prestigious role of Superstar's lady love.According to Sujatha's original script, En Iniya Iyanthira and Meendum Jeeno (A sequel of En Iniya Iyanthira) there is only one heroine, Nila (name of the character). But for Robot, it is said that Sujatha accepted to create another female lead character. In original script, the character of a Robot Dog is almost getting the equal importance of the hero. It will also be modified by the writer. The discussion has already completed, now there are few alteration done by the writer as suitable to Rajini.

According to the buzz, Nayantara and Deepika Padukone are said to be the two heroines of the movie. While Nayantara, who played Superstar's pair in Chandramukhi, is tipped to become his pair again, it is rumored that the latest Bollywood sensation Deepika Padukone will do an important role. But nobody is ready to confirm the role of Deepika in Robot. The production house told that the cast and crew will be decided by Shankar and Rajini only.Meanwhile, Trisha and Asin also tipped as usually for the lead role of this film. On the technical side, so far the director has confirmed his art director Sabu Cyril only. Sources said that Shankar has invited Nirav Shah, the stylish cameraman of Billa-2007 for this project. Another source says that it is Manikandan, the cinematographer of Om Shanthi Om will crank camera for Rajini's Robot.Above all, some portals report that the name of Robot will be changed to get the tax benefit from Government of Tamil Nadu. But when we enquired the same, the production house told that they will not have any such idea since it is a multi lingual film!
